Taishan is known by many in Guangdong as the birthplace of China Volleyball, because it was first intruduced by Overseas Chinese from the United States to Taishan in the early 1900s and since then got spread throughout China. Taishan produced many National players and coach in the early 20th Century and won many Provincial and National gold medals. Premier Zhou EnLai visited Taishan in the mid-1900s and called Taishan the hometown of China's Volleyball.

It is said that every village in Taishan County has a volleyball court and team. It's really impressive when i found this video of Volleyball being played in a village in Taishan.
